THE INTRODUCTION

The F.O.C.I.S. Movement is an independent grassroots organization that aims to shed light and expose the injustices that exist within our Criminal Justice System and Department of Corrections. It's acronym stands for Families Oppressed by the Criminal Injustice System and it's members consist of prisoners, former prisoners and family members of prisoners, lawyers, law students, paralegals, activists, advocates, social media influencers, hip hop and r&b artists, actors, as well as many other individuals and organizations that seek prison and criminal justice
reform. Initially, our strategy is to attempt to reach out to government officials with our findings on a particular subject(s) and request changes in policy, sanctions, disciplinary actions and/or removals from office before moving on to civil action, media exposure, peaceful protests, etc... Therefore, since The F.O.C.I.S Movement has already attempted to resolve Mr. Zimmerman's release with the Department of Corrections, we are now seeking media and public support on the following issue :

Nicholas Zimmerman is an innocent prisoner that has served almost twenty years in prison (fifteen of which in solitary confinement) for a crime he did not commit. Nakia Stubbs, the only complaining and identifying witness in the case, has recanted her testimony in an sworn affidavit and recorded conversation and admits she was threatened, coerced and forced to accuse Nicholas in the case. Two alibi witnesses and two eyewitnesses account for Nicholas' whereabouts on the night of the crime, but Mr. Zimmerman was suspiciously denied his right to present any of this evidence at trial. The latest discovery in Mr. Zimmerman's case is that his sentence was "calculated" incorrectly by the Department of Corrections and that he has been incarcerated for seven years past his legal maximum release date. Mr. Zimmerman and The F.O.C.I.S Paralegal & Advocacy Group has filed a letter-motion with Diane Holford of the Sentencing Review Unit within the New York State Department of Corrections explaining the miscalculation of Nicholas' sentence and requesting that his sentence be recalculated in accordance with the law and that he be released immediately, but Ms. Holford has amazingly done everything in her power to ignore the issue and instead blame the courts for the error when the law clearly gives her the power to correct the sentence and release Mr. Zimmerman.

The Team at F.O.C.I.S. has started a Color of Change petition and a GoFundme page to gain signatures and raise money for Nicholas' legal defense fund and in order to expose the corruption and malfeasance by Diane Holford and The Department of Corrections on this issue. Mr. Zimmerman's letter-motion to Holford, his podcast updates about his situation, links to his petition, fundraising page and all the evidence that proves his innocence can be located on his website :

We are asking for the media and the public's support in helping us spread the word to gain signatures and raise the money that is needed to hire a law firm to represent Nicholas' case in court. All contributions to this cause will be greatly appreciated! We thank everyone for their time and attention to this matter and if anyone has any questions, concerns or comments regarding the campaign to FREE Nicholas Zimmerman please feel free to contact us.

Sincerely,
The F.O.C.I.S. Paralegal & Advocacy Group
